علق ياب ستام أسطورة الكورة الهولندية على فرص تأهل الأهلي للأدوار المتقدمة ببطولة كأس العالم للأندية المقبلة، والتي ستنطلق خلال أيام في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
ومن المقرر أن تنطلق بطولة كأس العالم للأندية خلال الفترة من 14 يونيو حتى 13 يوليو بمشاركة 32 فريقًا لأول مرة في التاريخ، بمشاركة الأهلي كممثل للكرة المصرية.
ويتواجد الأهلي في المجموعة الأولى ضمن منافسات كأس العالم للأندية، رفقة إنتر ميامي الأمريكي، وبورتو البرتغالي، وبالميراس البرازيلي.
وقال يات ستام في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “أون سبورت”: “مجموعة الأهلي صعبة، ولكن النقطة الأساسية هي أن جميع هذه الفرق باستثناء إنتر ميامي، أنهت مشاركاتها في دورياتها المحلية، وقد خاضت بالفعل العديد من المباريات”.
وأكمل: “لذلك ستكون المباريات المقبلة تحديًا لباقي الفرق، إذ أن الموسم قد انتهى بالنسبة لهم، والسؤال (هل ما زالوا قادرين على تقديم نفس المستوى من الجودة، خاصة في بلد مختلف وظروف لعب جديدة؟)”.

وأضاف: “أعتقد أن هذه البطولة مفتوحة جدًا على كل الاحتمالات، وإذا نظرت إلى جميع الفرق وما يمكن أن تتوقعه منها، فهذا لا يعني بالضرورة أن الفرق ذات الأسماء الكبيرة هي من ستحسم الأمور”.
واختتم: “أعتقد أن البطولة ستكون غير متوقعة تمامًا، ومن المثير جدًا للاهتمام أن نرى أين سينتهي المطاف بكل فريق، والأهلي يمتلك فرصة جيدة للتأهل إلى المرحلة التالية”.

Ten Doeschate highlighted all that the team is doing behind the scenes to cope with the dew. “We are doing all the practical prep stuff, guys bowling with wet balls. Again, you know, like setting up our store to get a premium score, figuring out how to defend, what is best to bowl with the wet ball when there is dew on the grass.”An unexpected complication is the way ODIs function now. Previously, there was a new ball at each end. But it seemed like that had skewed the balance of the game in favour of the batters, with the ball staying harder for longer and being easier to hit even late in the innings. The ICC took note of this and from this July, bowling teams have been choosing one out of those two balls to carry on for the last 16 overs.”The two balls,” ten Doeschate said, “if I just think about it logically, the whole point of going to one ball after 34 overs is that the ball does get a chance to wear and to get a bit softer. But the flip side is that [when there is dew] you have got one ball that is getting more wet essentially. We thought 360, even given the dew coming, it was a good effort to get that score,” ten Doeschate said. “You always want more runs and again the conversations have been around how can we maximise. What we said about guys starting in slightly later on, what are the better options, we just had a good chat around that.”Ten Doeschate was asked if an earlier start time might help even things out. “I think it is, you know, the fact that the dew kind of falls as the second inning starts, it means the dew is there for the whole time.”So a different start time could bring that effect down a little bit if you started two hours early. Ideally, in Test cricket, you have a more solid base of batters and bowlers but we feel at the moment the guys who are doing the job for us just happen to be allrounders. I just think it is picking your best XI and that is just the way it is all in the world.”The ODIs being 1-1 right after India lost the Tests 2-0 has left the dressing room a bit wired.”It is a very different personnel of players, but the guys are very aware of the responsibility of what they are representing,” ten Doeschate said. “We always want to win, but certainly when a few losses do start stacking up and performances are below what we expect from ourselves. I think there is a slight aspiration to win the series tomorrow.”

Last season, the defender registered a staggering 36 goal contributions – 24 goals and 12 assists – in all competitions, becoming the Gers’ leading scorer.
Over the previous few campaigns, Tavernier’s success in the final third has been exceptional.
His numbers from right-back won’t ever be replicated and, while question marks naturally appear given the lack of success the club has achieved since 2016, the Englishman has led the team to a Europa League final in that time.
Adding in the Scottish Cup and League Cup triumphs along with the unforgettable 2020/21 unbeaten league title win, Tavernier played his part.
Has this season been a year too far for the player, however? Especially as it looked like he might have been on the move during the summer.
Indeed, Steven Gerrard was reportedly keen on signing him for Al-Ettifaq in Saudi, which would have seen the former Ibrox boss reunite with Tavernier, but no move materialised.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst – another former Gers manager – also showed keen interest in securing his signature for Besiktas. Again, no concrete bid was made by the Turkish side and the captain began the season fully committed to the Light Blues.
Perhaps Clement should have made a better effort to move him on, as his form has dipped dramatically since last term.

In 19 games for the club in all competitions, Tavernier has scored just once – a penalty against Dundee – while grabbing a further three assists. Hardly the numbers the Light Blues have been used to with the captain.
The defender hasn’t been at his finest defensively either. In the top flight, he has lost possession on average 20 times per game, while being dribbled past 0.5 times per match.
Taking statistics out of the equation, Tavernier’s intensity has been lacking, showing little fight to win the ball back when he loses it. Could it be time for a change of leadership in the near future?
Clement may already have an ideal candidate right in front of him. Someone who has shown a resurgence of late under the Belgian…
Raskin's performance in numbers vs Hearts
Nico Raskin has started the previous five matches for the Gers, partnering Connor Barron in the heart of the midfield to good effect.
Against Hearts, Clement opted to use Raskin and Barron at the base of his midfield, deploying Mohamed Diomande in a more advanced role, which certainly suits his attributes.
During the match, Raskin took 87 touches, completed 85% of his passes, made six tackles and won an impressive eight of 11 ground duels, displaying his tenacity in the centre of the pitch.
He was even given a rating of 8/10 by Glasgow World for his display and with every passing match, Raskin’s confidence is building.
After suffering an injury in pre-season, it looked as though the Belgian would struggle to make inroads into the team, especially as a Barron/Diomande duo was forming in the middle of the pitch.

These recent displays prove just how effective the 23-year-old can be if given a chance in the starting XI.

Michael Beale signed the midfielder in the 2023 January transfer window, even reportedly beating off Barcelona to secure his signature.
He then missed only three games for the Gers during the second half of the 2022/23 campaign, which allowed him to settle in well ahead of his first full campaign at the club.
The youngster endeared himself to several of the senior professionals at the club, with Scott Arfield showering him with praise.
Not a bad endorsement for the future captaincy, yet Raskin struggled last term. An injury meant he missed 19 games. Even when he was fit, Clement tended to keep him on the bench as it appeared he wasn’t a big fan of the former Standard Liege starlet.

Another injury suffered before the start of the season threatened to derail his spell in Glasgow before it had even begun, but he has shown incredible resilience to emerge as a vital member of the squad.
In the Premiership, Raskin has won 6.6 total duels per game – a success rate of 66% – while making 3.3 tackles and recovering the ball four times per game, showcasing his ability to win the ball back in the heart of the midfield and his strength in one on one battles.
Rangers may not be at their best, but this midfield triumvirate of Barron/Raskin/Diomande has given Clement a strong core to the starting XI, that’s for sure.
Tavernier won’t be at the Light Blues for much longer. Could Raskin be a viable contender for the captaincy role when it becomes available? Only time will tell.

Less than a week away from the bid submission date for ICC’s broadcast rights in its biggest market, significant concerns remain among media companies in India, concerns that manifested themselves through the absence of four major broadcasters from ‘mock auctions’ organised by the ICC on Wednesday.Disney Star*, Zee, Sony and Viacom, the companies which recently participated in the highly competitive e-auction for the IPL rights, did not attend training sessions the ICC had set up ahead of the actual submission of the bids for the next cycle of ICC events. The sessions are intended to familiarise bidders with the platform through which bids will be submitted.A number of bidders have completed the sessions or are scheduled to do so on Thursday and the ICC, for their part, are expecting the rest to provide slots to do so in the next couple of days.Those who have stayed away from the sessions have raised concerns to the ICC around the transparency over the process of awarding these rights, for ICC events from 2023 to 2031. ESPNcricinfo has learnt that all four broadcasters are uncomfortable with the fact that the bids will not be made public, or even shared among those participating in the process.The ICC has reserved the rights to conduct an e-auction in the event of the top bids being close, or not meeting the ICC’s expectations – the broadcasters are believed to be unhappy about the opaqueness in this instance of what would be considered close. They say it is reasonable to expect to know what margin of difference would trigger a second round of bidding.Until recently the ICC had ruled out an e-auction, their chief commercial officer Anurag Dahiya arguing that the way they were unbundling their rights – for men’s and women’s events separately, for digital and TV and across four- and eight-year packages – meant it would be too “complicated” for an e-auction of the kind the BCCI held for the IPL.But ESPNcricinfo understands that if a second round of bidding is now needed, that will take place as an e-auction. Broadcasters are also seeking more clarity from the ICC as to how bids for a four-year package and an eight-year one will be judged against each other. It is understood that the ICC has an algorithm in place and a multiplier figure that produces the best benchmark figure for them to be able to compare bids across different durations and platforms. That mechanism is not public, however.The bids are meant to be submitted by August 22, when the technical elements will be assessed and due diligence carried out to make sure each one meets ICC requirements. The financial aspect of the bid will be kept with an independent body and will not be opened until August 26. The ICC is believed to not want a public opening in case the bidding is competitive and close enough that there may be a need for subsequent rounds.The ICC continue to work through clarifications with the bidders but it is unlikely that any part of the bidding process will change now – as bidders have suggested different processes, changing it now might seem to be favouring one bidder over another, a situation the ICC want to avoid.The game’s governing body sent out its first Invitation to Tender (ITT) for its rights in June, for TV only, digital only and for both; women’s event rights have been unbundled from that of men’s events and packages are available for four and eight years.
