Hardik added that there was so much happening off the surface that the batters had to be quite circumspect. “It wasn’t that it was a slow, turning wicket,” he said. “But actually it was carrying through very well and to be honest, it was a shocker of a wicket. We were just playing the ball and seeing whichever the best opportunity or whichever the best position we can get in and made sure we keep rotating the strike.”

Santner: ‘Was trying to find spinners from everywhere’

So, it’s one of those ones where you expect different wickets around the world and we can’t complain; it’s exciting to try and figure out a way to play on these wickets.”

Mhambrey: ‘You have to ask curator about behaviour of pitch’

India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey also spoke of the challenges posed by the Ekana Stadium surface, and praised his four-man spin attack, which was bolstered by the return of legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal.”Firstly when we saw the wicket, we realised that it was on the drier side,” Mhambrey said at his post-match press conference. “Obviously, there was a little bit of grass covering in the middle, but there was no grass at both the ends. So, when we came yesterday, it looked like it would turn. We realised that it would be a challenging wicket. The reason [why the pitch behaved like that]… you have to ask the curator.”Was it time? or I don’t know and I think he’s the right person to answer that question. But yeah definitely it was challenging. We knew that it would be a big challenge and luckily happy with the way we controlled the game. I think we allowed 100 runs and anything beyond 120-130, I thought it would have been more challenging but we did well to restrict them to 99 and give us a reasonable target to chase.”

Three double-hundreds in the last eight months in first-class cricket has earned Mosaddek the tag of Bangladesh cricket’s “next big thing”.The label has come after a consistent run of big scores in domestic cricket, which dates back to Mosaddek’s first season in the Dhaka Premier League when he single-handedly led Abahani Limited’s title fight in 2013. After being chosen on the A-team tour that left Dhaka on Wednesday night, Mosaddek is now among the second line of Bangladesh cricketers at a time when the senior team is having different requirements for the three formats.Many have observed that Mosaddek’s greatest asset – apart from his physical powers and concentration- is his awareness of his own strength and weakness. After making an unbeaten 200 against Sylhet earlier this month, Mosaddek holds the record for most double-hundreds by a Bangladesh batsman. The first of those three knocks was his 250 against Rangpur, and the second a 282 against Chittagong during the 2014-15 season.It is rare for such a young batsman, particularly in Bangladesh, to bat in so many long innings within a short span of time. He has a sense of his strength and weakness while batting. One thing that stands out for Mosaddek is that he has batted naturally through every situation. He plays exactly how a No 5 should play. All his big innings have been about batting rhythm, and he tended to repeat what he had done before. If INEOS do move Rashford on this month, according to a report from Spain, United have made an enquiry to sign Kang-in Lee from Paris Saint-Germain in a bid to replace the Englishman.

The 23-year-old, who has been described as “outstanding” by Korean journalist Joel Kim, joined PSG in July 2023 from Real Mallorca. He impressed in his first season in France, as he scored three goals and registered four assists in 23 Ligue 1 games, as well as getting on the scoresheet during his nine matches in the Champions League.

Kang-in’s ability to play anywhere across the frontline, as well as being able to drop into midfield, has now put him on the radar of United. This report states that the Red Devils are interested in signing the attacker but face competition from Newcastle United. INEOS have explored the possibility of getting a deal over the line, as they have made an enquiry over his availability, but so have the Magpies.

According to journalist Gianluca Vitale on X, Ipswich Town have made an offer to sign RB Salzburg right-back Amar Dedic in January, with the likes of Sporting CP and Napoli also in the mix to snap him up this year:

“Amar Dedic closer to leaving Red Bull Salzburg. Offers from Sporting CP and Ipswich Town for the Bosnian, proposed to Napoli last summer and who would like to play in Ac Milan. The intermediary Fali Ramadani is working on his transfer to a new league already in January.”

The 22-year-old could be an exciting signing for the Tractor Boys, having proven himself at a high level for a sustained period now, making 93 appearances for Salzburg and registering 14 assists in that time.

Dedic has also won 16 caps for Bosnia, highlighting his international pedigree, while football talent scout Jacek Kulig has lauded his quality, describing him as “fantastic”.

At 22, Dedic is still such a young player who should only improve, so if Ipswich can beat other big clubs to his signature, it could prove to be a brilliant piece of business.
